Feel The Magic...

I played a gig at a country club a few months ago and at the end of that gig a man came up telling me in perfect English how much he enjoyed our music. Ricardo and I got to talking and I found out that he was a photographer who lives in Leon. As you may already know, I have been working with local Guanajuato photographer Memo (see post Memo's Fotos August 2010) ever since we moved to Guanajuato in 2005.

However, for BUZZ and my new projects, I wanted a different look.

I met with Ricardo in Leon this past week to begin taking fotos for the BUZZ website and he had the idea of posing me with a shoe. Ricardo teaches English and 1 of his students owns a shoe company. Leon is the Shoe Capital of Mexico, maybe all of North America. Many, many shoes come from Leon, GTO. Ricardo showed the above foto to the owner of the company the same day that we took it. He liked it. It's much easier to be a model when you don't look like anyone else in the country. I'll let you know what, if anything develops.

As soon as I lost my camera I'm getting people who want to take pictures of me. Strange.

Lost

I seem to have lost my camera. Before I lost it I did get a few fotos. I'll be posting the last fotos taken on my trusty Canon point and shoot over the next few days. After that you guys are going to be stuck with my words. Sorry. Hang in there. I'll get a new camera soon.

Back in the days of the camera, on my way back to Mexico, I caught a 3 wheeled bike in action in Austin Texas. Here it is:
Things I love: 3 wheeled bikes, bike routes, sidewalks,
ice cream and a bike leading a Hummer.

Waste Land

I have been back in Guanajuato for just a little over a week. I had a wonderful time playing with my friend Chris Brunt at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas. It was our 4th year playing together at Easter. After Easter, I stayed a bit longer to work on more details for the launch of BUZZ.

To answer the 2 most common questions I get from you guys:

1. No, I haven't been doing anything with our house building project out at our land. Waiting to get a few more funds. Don't worry you guys will know as soon as I start building again.

2. And no, you didn't miss the launch of BUZZ. It turns out that creating a new show and all of the things that go along with it may take more time than building a house. I know it will be worth it. More on BUZZ soon. Remember what I said about patience?

In Texas I had the chance to work in a few gardens. Even during an epic drought everything in Texas is much greener than here in the high desert of central Mexico. I worked a bit with my mother in her gardens and we both tackled my Grandparents yard. I love working with plants. I currently don't get much of a chance to do much gardening. Nice to get my hands dirty again. I didn't even mind weeding the Blackberry's. It did take a few days to get some of the thorns out of my fingers, but the berry's look so yummy it is always worth it.

After working on BUZZ for a week and a half my mother and I went to the Nasher Sculpture Center (http://www.nashersculpturecenter.org/). What a beautiful place in downtown Dallas. If you are ever in Dallas you must stop by and check this place out. A great way to recharge the creative batteries.

I found a different type of inspiration while watching Waste Land (http://www.wastelandmovie.com/) with my cousin Matt and his lovely wife Lynn. Among other thoughts, Waste Land made me think of having my art make a positive impact on people. I'm working on it. Waste Land is a truly wonderful film about an incredible artist who is making a difference.

In the spirit of recycling, here are a few fotos I stumbled across recently. These were all taken on the main highway to Leon, GTO.

I bet at least 1 of those bags reads, "FOR PEANUTS ONLY".
Interesting place to lay down.
Some kind of animal parts.
This foto is for my sister Adrienne, who's oldest 2 sons also helped
Grammy and I with my Grandparents yard.
