3 Amigos, 2 Gigs. Part Two

Sunday I played at the Museo Gene Byron with Jorge Preza, bass and Laloc Vallejo, drums. Good and appreciative crowd. Always fun to play with friends. That's me and my Pearl girl (foto by Rose).

3 Amigos, 2 Gigs. Part One

This weekend I had the pleasure of playing with two of my friends. Jorge Preza on bass and Laloc Vallejo on drums. Saturday we played outdoors in the Plaza San Fernando. It is a holiday weekend in Mexico and it was great to be playing while so many tourists from all over strolled through the plaza. This plaza is one of my favorite in Guanajuato. Many restaurants with outside eating, always a few children playing in the plaza and beautiful views of Pipila and the city as it rises above. It looks sort of dead in the pics but there were quite a few people. Nice gig.

Well at least Rose is listening, maybe.
Digin' the groove.

We played in two location. They even set up a stage.

Just Another Rehearsal

I could devote an intire blog to working with the Mexican Maestro Batiz. Juat a few minutes ago in rehearsal he was yelling at me while I and the whole orchestra are playing a loud section. I kept on playing while trying to figure out WHAT he is yelling. I stoped playing to listen better. He is yelling what I thought he was yelling. "Sientese!" I am sitting down! Turns out he is yelling at our bass trombone player who he could see standing somewhere in the back of the hall behind me. Just another rehearsal with Batiz. Posting this from the internet cafe. I just snezzed and the young lady working next to me gave me the standard "Salud" I love Mexico!

Getting Started

With inspiration from my buddy Dug (pedalsnotpistons.blogspot) I am getting started in the world of the blog. I'm looking forward to sharing stories of my life. My life as a husband, as a father of two young girls, our life in Mexico, life working in an orchestra, life as a trumpeter, and whatever else I stumble across along the way. I do a fair amount of stumbling so you are in for some interesting and hopefully entertaining stories. Stay tunned......
